The simpliest phone ever. Yet the most stylish one. John's Phone

Ever thought what will simplicity combined with style look like? Seems guys at John's Phones got the answer. And the answer is pretty cheap -  just 80 Euro. I must admit it got some style in it... and the minimum set of features... Actually just the very basic ones...And you know, I guess I'm already spoiled with all those all-in-one phones with huge displayes and tochscreens... I just could trade all that for a long lasting battery and easy calls... Will you?

Steampunk for everyday life. Collection of unusual designs.

Steampunk seems to have a chance to become a regular visitor on the blog. After steampunk sculptures by Pierre Matter, here is a collection of unusual designs for and I guess by steampunk fans. Enjoy!

ABChairs. 26 chairs in 10 years. Design project by Roeland Otten

There have been many attempts to make an ABC furniture... This one seems to be the longest and.. the most successful.  A project started in 1999 as sketches and paper prototypes has really got into full swing only in 2009 and finally was presented in 2010 on a June 100x Summer Design. Original red color was changed to black as well as the material chairs are made of and yet the projected is not completed and is still on the run.

Interested? Follow the project...

Seesaw in the toilet. Creative eco faucet concept.

There haven't been much of industrial and product design here recently, not to mention all those Apple related things. So, I decided to balance designs here (next in line is interior) and here's a nice creative, smart and really eco concept of a faucet. The design is originally made for use in public toilets where quite often people don't bother turning water off when soaping hands.
The seesaw concept by Chanhee Han is supposed to solve this problem.

Samsung Galaxy Tab. Compare with others!

With Samsung Galaxy Tab being already here and being called the first and real iPad competitor or even killer (IMHO calling, taking pictures and extending memory are really quite an advantage), I decided to drop in my typically interior and graphic design posts one from the industrial world of gadgets. Yet, this one is also graphic design based :)
So, have  a quick look on how existing tablets compare to each other by size...

Here's a bit more with the pics...

Hand-picked inspirations of the day: Day 23

Summer is almost over, and we start thinking about autumn/fall more and more often... Todays inspirations turned to be a mix of summer and autumn moods.

BRANDED GEYSER
Schweppes and creative agency Black Milk have branded a geyser in Oeiras not far from Lisbon, Portugal.
A Schweppes bottle is made to remind all those on the beach and around that it's time to refresh with...well...of course Schweppes :) A really creative idea.

See it in action

NYC POPPED UP
In my childhood when I used to read a lot, one of my faves were pop-up books. They were really rare and thus were even more valuable. But I have never thought that one can make something like this in the pop-up book

See more pics of  NYC pop-up oand don't forget to visit site of the designer who made all this - Daisy Lew

WINE. PACKAGING. AWESOME
These are three words that first come to mind when I see this really amazing and awesome packaging design made by Mookai Communications.
The notion of wine education and learning is delivered from the first look at the boxes where all sommelier's stuff is packed. When you open the box, wine tasting and sensing are instantly in the air. Just great! Amazing work!

More details about the project and more amazing pics

UMBRELLA THERAPY
As I said above, the fall is round the corner and it's time to get ready. I recommend you to throw your old umbrella away and get one of these cool designer ones. Great looking. Practical. Innovative.
Your umbrella will be changing its color with the first drops of rain. You left home with a great looking white umbrella and... bang! what used to be white is now full of colors! Don't want white for rain? Get a black one instead.  Ok, just have a look yourself...

RETRO LOGOS SHOWCASE
Working over a logo for house cleaning at the moment which is to be done in a retro style. Explored a number  of old labels, prints and logos and catch the feel of that time. In between found a really nice showcase of retro logos on flickr. Do have a look!

See all of them in details

The day is up, so is the post. Come, click, like, comment and come tomorrow for more. See you!

Hand-picked inspirations of the day: Day 19

Hard day, lots of emotions... Positive and not very... Dark and light... A real mix... Just as the inspirations of the day are...

PUNCH THE FACE
A great idea of hand cut posters made with a hole punch by Murmure. Just amazing! have a look and read much more about the project on its behance page

BOOKCOVERS THAT IMPRESS
Those who read a lot know pretty well, how great cover can stimulate reading and what's inside can turn out to be less great than expected. On the other hand, how often under plain cover we find amazing content.
I do hope that the book covers from this creative set hide really great content inside.

MOVE WITH STYLE
Pity that sending We've moved cards is not a wide spread tradition here... I would have definitely sent some after moving to a new appartment last year. yet, why not to share some with all of you... Consider you are invited for the housewarming party ;) Don't forget about present! ;)

DOUBLE SHOWER FOR DOUBLE PLEASURE
Shower is the thing I find the most exciting in the bathroom. Especially when it's a walk-in one. To get envigorating or relaxing shower in the morning or evening is really great. Especially if it's followed by a cup of coffee or soft bed correspondingly.
Well, typically we deal with hand showers or rainshower, though my preference is a rain one, but a combo sounds even more exciting...

Really great idea by Thomas Baker - Unum Rain Shower and Hand Shower

LIKE LIKE LIKE
Well, those are not three words typed by mistake... That an expression of someone's emotions towards the other person... Kinda I like you like cold Cola on a hot day :) Though the one I want to share with you is stronger and much more romantic.

Thanks to a really great friend of mine for sharing this image with me and who know how much I like coffee in the morning :)

That's for the day. Hope weekend will be better for everyone. Take care and see you tomorrow!

Inspired by Internet. Day 15

A new Monday of new week and a new set of inspirations that I hand-picked for you today.

35MM
The first entry today is a really awesome short animation about cinema made out of 35 movies that were compressed into 2 minutes. The graphic and animation work by Pascal Monaco is really amazing... The most characterstic features and elements of the movies are picked, simplified, transformed and shown with great artistism and skills.
Do recommend to watch it.

INSPIRED BY TETRIS
With so many Tetris inspired products being already on the market, another one seems to be no surprise. But this one seems to be the most functional up to date, IMHO.

Easy to assemble bright and colorful elements will definitely be a lot of fun for kids and teens... or some adults who want to get back to their revolutionary childhood and block all the entries to a TV set or a fridge :)
The concept seems to be really viable, though I guess it's more for some playrooms and kids zones than for everyday use at home... Speak your mind in the comments!
And see more pics and a video right here

BRIGHT COMBO
Following the interior design topic, let me show you a nice set of wall lamps which are integrated with the small shelves. A really practical combo, so you can place you glasses, keys, etc... On the other hand... Seems you will anyway have to turn the light on first to find the lamp :)

Unfortunately can't refer you to the official site of the manufacturer (Zeroombra) since one under .it domain is under construction and the one on .com domain  gets an unsafe report from a browser...

POP ART OF STYLE
And again I want to thank guys from Sweet Station who digg out some really awesome stuff online... This time it's a US artist Marion Peck.
I've seen some of her works before, but just didn't know who the artist was. Now the puzzle is completed. A really awesome representative of pop-surrealism. The works of hers are naive and werd, attractive and scary... You just have to see them once to know whether you love them or not...

this one is one of my faves

See much more of her works and leave comments as for whether you like or dislike her works

GIANTS LAND
An amazing concept of electricity pillons. An ideal thing for new legends to be born.  I guess that's how many legends appeared in Middle Ages and the period of Great Geographic Discoveries... You get to a new land, you see something you've never seen before, you make some assumptions and here we are - a new legend is born.
So, welcome to the Land of Giants :)

Much more pics and details of this work by Choi+Shine Architects. Do have a look, it's interesting...

Well, that was a last entry for today. New day has already come, so I'm already digging for new inspirations for you... See you!
