Coffee cup art. Drawings by Cheeming Boey

A Malaysian artist Cheeming Boey instead of canvas and paper decided to use plastic cips to create and display his art. And I must say the result is really nice. Coffee cups look attractive and coffee drinking becomes even more bohemian :)

See a huge gallery of 200+ cup designs and definitely visit Boey's personal site. It's worth a separate post I guess. Don't forget to chek his journal there.

Hand-picked inspirations of the day: Day 24

Nice day. Tomorrow is Friday. Weekend is already looming head, so why not to give you more inspiration for this last workday ;)
It happened that today most inspirations are from print design, so you will have a lots of cool stuff to look through. So, here we go!

MONSTERS FAMILY
Amazing design work by Family Tree Design. And though some of them don't look the way I used to imagine them, it doesn't matter, since all of them are sooo freaking cool! Love the style all posters are made in. Definitely great work!

See the rest of the family :)

T-SHIRTS ART
This one is just to look through and admire... and to laugh... A great collection of funny yet great designed t-shirts some of which are real art objects. Pay attention to details in some of them.
Here are some of my faves from that list.

Much more waiting for you...

SPANISH DESIGN
Here're some nice design from a Spanish design studio Lucia Castro. Great use of typography, well-balanced simplicity, feel of style and simply great works.

See more designs from their portfolio. And I absolutely recommend to visit their site. Lots of great works for your inspiration.

GIFT BOXES YOU WON'T LIKE TO GIVE AWAY
I always believed and still do that simplicity is the key. The key to style, great designs, better and more organized life, etc, etc...
And here's one more example of such an approach. Identity and gift boxes for Sofi, handmade soaps, designed by Bratislav Milenkovic.

Check the rest of the identity images. Especially the boxes in black. Loooove them!

PAPER ELEGANCE
Well, I must confess that I have never before heard of washi (Japanese paper) and of course about dolls that can be made of this paper.
That's why I was just carried away with these small dolls (10-15 cm tall) designed by Kyoko Okubo. Each of them tells a story, delivers a message and makes you smile, think, imagine... It makes you interact... You just can't be indifferent seeing them.

Absolutely have a look at other works of hers here and here

Great positive end for the day. Let the next day be even more exciting just the way the new inspirations will be. Come tomorrow for more! See you!

Hand-picked inspirations of the day: Day 23

Summer is almost over, and we start thinking about autumn/fall more and more often... Todays inspirations turned to be a mix of summer and autumn moods.

BRANDED GEYSER
Schweppes and creative agency Black Milk have branded a geyser in Oeiras not far from Lisbon, Portugal.
A Schweppes bottle is made to remind all those on the beach and around that it's time to refresh with...well...of course Schweppes :) A really creative idea.

See it in action

NYC POPPED UP
In my childhood when I used to read a lot, one of my faves were pop-up books. They were really rare and thus were even more valuable. But I have never thought that one can make something like this in the pop-up book

See more pics of  NYC pop-up oand don't forget to visit site of the designer who made all this - Daisy Lew

WINE. PACKAGING. AWESOME
These are three words that first come to mind when I see this really amazing and awesome packaging design made by Mookai Communications.
The notion of wine education and learning is delivered from the first look at the boxes where all sommelier's stuff is packed. When you open the box, wine tasting and sensing are instantly in the air. Just great! Amazing work!

More details about the project and more amazing pics

UMBRELLA THERAPY
As I said above, the fall is round the corner and it's time to get ready. I recommend you to throw your old umbrella away and get one of these cool designer ones. Great looking. Practical. Innovative.
Your umbrella will be changing its color with the first drops of rain. You left home with a great looking white umbrella and... bang! what used to be white is now full of colors! Don't want white for rain? Get a black one instead.  Ok, just have a look yourself...

Working over a logo for house cleaning at the moment which is to be done in a retro style. Explored a number  of old labels, prints and logos and catch the feel of that time. In between found a really nice showcase of retro logos on flickr. Do have a look!

See all of them in details

The day is up, so is the post. Come, click, like, comment and come tomorrow for more. See you!

Hand-picked inspirations of the day: Day 21

Hi! New week is here! Hope you enjoyed the best of the last week and here's already a new portion of cool stuff for you.

HINDU GODS AS YOU HAVE NEVER IMAGINED THEM
That was a long titile:) And a little book to follow :)
I was just carried away with this book and great illustrations for it - "A Little Book of Hindu Deities" from Ghee Happy.
You just have a look and I'm absolutely sure that you will at least have a look at the Ghee Happy's site or maybe even buy this book for yourself.

Aren't the illustrations great? Do also have a look at the store, since there are many other cool prints there and some are even for free.

RETRO PRINTS FOREVER
Vintage and retro are already a trend and noone will doubt it, Print ads or even entire rebranding process use retro and vntage cliches and style to make things stand out among the plethora of web 2.0 stuff online and offline. I'm for vintage myself and do try to use it when possible in new designs I'm making.
So, here are some really nice retro posters from a Spanish designer Ruben Córdoba Schwaneberg.

See more great retro posters of his or check his portfolio for more amazing works

BEAUTY OF RAIN
From graphic design, let's move to photography and an amazing photoset by NY photographer Navid Baraty.
Great shots of rain made in San Francisco and Japan will definitely leave you impressed and make you rethink the rainy weather from artistic perspective.

See the rest of rainy pictures from the "Rain" photo series

PUZZLING BOARD
A 3 in 1 puzzling cutting board. Use it on its own... supersize when you need more cutting space... or carry some tasty snacks and  a glass of wine in one hand. Ain't it handy?

SNOOZER PILLOW
Well, and to finish with useful things for today. A pillow for lonely people. Whenever you feel like you need to hug someone and curl into a sofa or bed, grab your snoozer pillow. The only drawback - it can't hug you back.

Like it? it's yours for $70. Thanks novate.ru for the pics.

Well, that was a fresh portion of inspirations. I personally really love the book and its illustrations...But I'm sure there'll be even more great things tomorrow. See you!
