Transformation of recycled books into a reception desk.

For me, a person who has been surrounded by books since early childhood, (thanks my mom, who is a librarian) taking care of the books has always been emphasized. Yet, even in my dreams I couldn't imagine that the recycled books are not simply thrown away or recycled into toilet paper or something, but turned into a great piece of furniture design - a great reception/information desk. Stylish, colorful and functional.

Thanks momoy for inspiration

A great collection of animals inspired furniture

As I promised last or this week [SCRATCH], I will try to balance plethora of graphic design with product and interior one... Had two selected for this last fifth post of today, and finally decided for interior design. Besides, I can't put away a post with a bear in it ;)
The product one will be tomorrow, so don't worry :) So, here's a nice collection of animals inspired (and not always functional) furniture

Most of these things are for sala though prices sometimes are quite unexpected... Check Aprtmenttherapy for deials

Inspired by Internet. Day 15

A new Monday of new week and a new set of inspirations that I hand-picked for you today.

35MM
The first entry today is a really awesome short animation about cinema made out of 35 movies that were compressed into 2 minutes. The graphic and animation work by Pascal Monaco is really amazing... The most characterstic features and elements of the movies are picked, simplified, transformed and shown with great artistism and skills.
Do recommend to watch it.

INSPIRED BY TETRIS
With so many Tetris inspired products being already on the market, another one seems to be no surprise. But this one seems to be the most functional up to date, IMHO.

Easy to assemble bright and colorful elements will definitely be a lot of fun for kids and teens... or some adults who want to get back to their revolutionary childhood and block all the entries to a TV set or a fridge :)
The concept seems to be really viable, though I guess it's more for some playrooms and kids zones than for everyday use at home... Speak your mind in the comments!
And see more pics and a video right here

BRIGHT COMBO
Following the interior design topic, let me show you a nice set of wall lamps which are integrated with the small shelves. A really practical combo, so you can place you glasses, keys, etc... On the other hand... Seems you will anyway have to turn the light on first to find the lamp :)

Unfortunately can't refer you to the official site of the manufacturer (Zeroombra) since one under .it domain is under construction and the one on .com domain  gets an unsafe report from a browser...

POP ART OF STYLE
And again I want to thank guys from Sweet Station who digg out some really awesome stuff online... This time it's a US artist Marion Peck.
I've seen some of her works before, but just didn't know who the artist was. Now the puzzle is completed. A really awesome representative of pop-surrealism. The works of hers are naive and werd, attractive and scary... You just have to see them once to know whether you love them or not...

this one is one of my faves

See much more of her works and leave comments as for whether you like or dislike her works

GIANTS LAND
An amazing concept of electricity pillons. An ideal thing for new legends to be born.  I guess that's how many legends appeared in Middle Ages and the period of Great Geographic Discoveries... You get to a new land, you see something you've never seen before, you make some assumptions and here we are - a new legend is born.
So, welcome to the Land of Giants :)

Much more pics and details of this work by Choi+Shine Architects. Do have a look, it's interesting...

Well, that was a last entry for today. New day has already come, so I'm already digging for new inspirations for you... See you!

Inspired by Internet. Day 6

Internet is not much active during the weekend, yet I managed to find some interesting stuff to share with you.
So, here come the best of the Saturday.

PAPER MADE MASTERPIECES
An awesome time-killer from Canon. If you are fed up with crosswords and puzzles, get yourself some nice print-cut-glue architecture masterpieces and try what it's like to be an architect and a builder.

Most of them look pretty complicated for me and I guess will take much more time than getting a puzzle done... Though some look pretty easy to assemble... Like the Great Pyramids or the Moai Statues

In any case I think that's a really cool initiative. Read a bit more about it or download some for a try from Canon's Creative Park.

COFFEE CHAIR
As most creatives, I typically start my day with a cup of morning coffee (usually it's Americano with milk) and sometimes having one more during the day. Thus I just couldn't stay aside from such a creative use of the coffee sack. A really cool deck chair, isn't it?

Next time I go to buy coffee I will ask if they have a spare coffee sack...
Thanks Cafe Direct

WE SAY CUSHIONS... WE MEAN SOFA
Typically we use cushions to add some decorative accents to the room... to add some color... to bring it balance by matching them to the curtains, etc, etc...
But why not to use cushion to get some furniture... Just the way a German designer Christiane Hogner did.

Taking into account the fact that the sofa is exhibited in an old prison in Turin, it looks more than comfortable...
You may see some more pics of this sofa here

DON'T TRUST YOUR EYES
How many times we tell oursselves... No, I will never be tricked... I'm smart... I can tell where the truth is...
Well, then test yourself with an awesome set of  transparent screens photos from Smashing Magazine.
Here are my faves...

Like those? There are much more waiting for you... A hint... They are all fakes :)

SHOWCASE YOUR WORKSPACE
Another great discovery after the moustache blog was made today...
A nice site about the designers' workspaces...

I found quite a number of interesting ideas there which will definitely take into account for my home office... which will also go to the wherewedesign when done... (wish it were already)

So, that was a final ingredient of the todays cocktail of interesting stuff... Come tomorrow for the best of the week... See you!

Inspired by Internet. Day 5

Happy Friday to the world :)
And here comes the Day 5 of the Internet inspirations... Today I tried to pick a bit of everything... Fashion, graphic design, furniture and architecture... Things that made me excited and left some WOW in me...
So, here we go!

RESTYLE COFFEE TABLE
Unless you live in a large villa, loft or a penthouse, you typically always think - Damn, I wish I had more space... For all those, who strugle for an extra square feet/meter, UK designer James Howlett created an amazing coffee table which can transform into different combinations - a table and two chairs, a bookcase, a dining table, etc

Read more about this amazing transformer or get an indepth look

DIAMONDS ARE WOMEN'S BEST FRIENDS
Thus don't save on diamonds. And if you can't earn enough to present some diamond jewelry to your beloved one, then get 29 Euro (i.e. about 38 USD) and get a sparkling diamond to bring light into your romantic life... Provided you know how to screw in a light bulb :)

I think the light shed by this "diamond" must be really interesting to view... So far you can view some more pics of the Diamon Lights

FRANCE TO LONDON: MAPQUEST
Do you love travelling just the way I do? have you ever pinned the maps indicating the places you've been to? Yeah, that was years before GoogleMaps came :) While some people throw the maps away, others, like a French artist Elisabeth Lecourt who is currently creating her awesome stuff in London, make them art objects

Aint those really cool?! Just a regular map.. folded, adjusted, fixed... and here we go - a fashionable art object...  View some other great pieces by her here and here

NEST, SWEET NEST
Home... Home sweet home... Family nest...  Some people understand it way too literally...

Rahel Hegnauer, an artist from Zurich made such an installation to bring the notion of the family nest into everyday routine of the city...

I'm just not sure whether the neighbours from a lower store are really happy with that... I guess that nest definitely blocks some light for their balcony...
Have a look yourself...especially here

I LIKE TEA... BIGELOW TEA...
Yes I like tea... I like hiqh quality tea,,, and I also like Chai tea by TAZO which is hard to get here and which is always welcome as a gift if you decide to present me some :)
And nice packaging matters as much as quality of the tea leaves... That's why I'd like to share some that I really liked... And was ready to taste tea inside just the very minute I saw the packaging...

Great design work done by Kristen Haff a yound designer from the Academy of Art in SF.
More Bigelow tea packaging shots to enjoy here

MOMENTO TECHNOLOGY
And a thing which I was simply carried away with today. An awesome ad of facebook, youtube and skype as if it were done in 60's. Just awesome!

Digg it here, if you like it. Though it already got more than 1K diggs. But it really deserves it!

Well, Friday is over. Time to enjoy the weekend! And I promise not to waste time and get more cool stuff for you tomorrow!

Inspired by Internet. Day 4

New day and new impressions... Today I've got a real mix of things. From a Magic Chair to cute and romantic pandas :) So, I bet you will find something to your liking... So. here we go... And as promised, the first thing is

MAGIC CHAIR
Transparent plates used to make this chair make a great use of the optical illusion to make us believe what we see... Just don't forget to keep those plates crystal clean to keep magic in the air :)

To see how this magic thing looks from a different angle, have a look here
Thanks TrendsNow

CLIMBING LIBRARY
A great addition to a contemporary house. A climbing library... Like a house inside the house. A reader's retreat... I personally would really like to spend days and weeks there... Roaming around... finding that perfect book to read and then hiding in a reader's shelter to enjoy the intimacy of the reading process...
Damn, looks like I haven't read for quite a while... :)

Get an overview of the library here or get into details including the detailed plan of the climbing library here

WHO IS PATRIZIA?
Couldn't stay aside from a creative campaign by Patrizia Pepe for the autumn/winter collection. Not as witty and cool as DIESEL campaign of course but not as plain as "revolutionary" BURBERY's one

Oh, and yes - I love the typography... See the rest of the posters...

RIBBONS MASTER
When ribbons are no longer pieces of cloth in your hands, then they transform into something totally different... and then it's only your creativity which is a limit... Awesome ribbon art by Maeda Baku

More exciting ribbon art to be admired here

KUNG FU CUTE PANDA
A photos of style and fantazy... A balance between a fairy tale and alternative reality... Awesome pictures by a 25 year old photographer from Spain Ibai Acevedo

Get deep into other reality right here

Well, another day and another set of inspiration is over... New day, new inspirations, new ideas.
Stay inspired!
